First Family Devotions

Use the devotions below to help your family know more about God. Family bible study is one of the most important things you can do for your children and teenagers. Help them reflect and understand who their God is and how they can have a deep relationship with their creator.

Family Devotions

Unit 1 - God
There is one God. He is the perfect Spirit in whom all things have their source, support and end. He is a personal being, not an impersonal force. He is just and loving and cares about you and me.

Unit 2 - Who Am I?
We are spiritual beings created for the purpose of relationship with God. Because we are made in God's image, we have tremendous capacity for good. Due to disease called sin, we tend toward evil. We have a free will and are accountable to God for our choices.

Unit 3 - The Bible
The Bible is God's written message to mankind. It tells us what we need to know about God, ourselves and the world in which we live. It points "true north" by lighting our path with truth.

Unit 4 - Satan
The devil was an angel created to serve God. But he rebelled, led other angels to rebel and hopes to get people to join his rebellion. He hates us and seeks to destroy our souls through temptation and lies. Satan and all who follow him will be judged by God.

  • Lesson 1 - Is the devil real?
  • Lesson 2 - Sin has consequences.
  • Lesson 3 - Temptation comes from Satan, the world and our sin nature.
  • Lesson 4 - Sin is conquered by accepting God's forgiveness and submitting to His control.

Unit 5 - Jesus
Jesus Christ is God. He became a human, lived a perfect life as payment for our sin. He defeated death by rising from the grave and is preparing a place in heaven for all who accept His gift of salvation.

  • Lesson 1 - Jesus is God.
  • Lesson 2 - He became a human, lived a perfect life and gave His life as payment for our sin.
  • Lesson 3 - His life and teachings are an example to us.
  • Lesson 4 - He defeated death and is preparing a place for us.
  • Lesson 5 - He desires a relationship with us.

Unit 6 - Heaven Bound?
"For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life" (John 3:16). We can repent of our sin, be saved, and live a new life with the Holy Spirit's help and guidance.

  • Lesson 1 - Because of Jesus' sacrifice, we can be saved from sin.
  • Lesson 2 - Salvation and repentance are inseparable.
  • Lesson 3 - We are not alone. The Holy Spirit is with us to guide and help us overcome sin.
  • Lesson 4 - How we live as Christians should reflect god's lovve for everyone.
